TOKYO (dpa-AFX) - Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYKA.F, 9101.T), a Japanese shipping company, on Wednesday revised up its first-half and full-year guidance. The revised guidance assumes heightened tensions in the Middle East, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, and rerouting via the Cape of Good Hope to avoid the Suez Canal.
For the six-month period to September 30, 2026, the company now expects net profit of JPY 155 billion, compared with the earlier guidance of JPY 91 billion. Nippon Yusen now anticipates revenue of JPY 1.440 trillion, higher than the previous outlook of JPY 1.285 trillion.
For the six-month period to September 30, 2025, Nippon Yusen had recorded net profit of JPY 98.3 billion, with revenue of JPY 1.182 trillion.
For the 12-month period to March 31, 2027, the shipping company now projects net profit of JPY 240 billion against the earlier expectation of JPY 195 billion. The company now anticipates revenue of JPY 2.881 trillion, higher than the prior guidance of JPY 2.605 trillion.
For the 12-month period to March 31, 2026, Nippon Yusen had posted net income of JPY 211.750 billion, on revenue of JPY2.423 trillion.
For the full year, the company intends to pay a total dividend of JPY 240 per share, compared with JPY 230 per share in the previous year.
