BILBAO (dpa-AFX) - Iberdrola SA (IBDSF.PK, IBE1.DE, IBE.MC, 1IBE.MI), a Spanish electric utility company, said on Friday that its subsidiary, ScottishPower Renewables, has signed a five-year deal in July with RES, a renewable energy company, to boost the operation and maintenance of 15 onshore wind farms in the UK.
The contract will support a combined renewable capacity of nearly 600 MW. Together, the wind farms covered by the agreement have a capacity of 588 MW, enough to supply the equivalent of the annual electricity consumption of around 412,000 homes, according to Renewable Energy Systems, or RES.
