WASHINGTON (dpa-AFX) - Teledyne Technologies Inc. (TDY) on Friday announced that its Teledyne Qioptiq unit has received the first option from the German Bundeswehr for PHOENIX-XR cooled thermal weapon sights valued at more than $21 million.
The company said that the deliveries are scheduled to begin early next year, with completion aligned with the Bundeswehr's deployment timeline.
The order is part of a previously announced framework agreement with Germany valued at up to $175 million.
Upon completion of the order, Qioptiq will have delivered more than 1,000 PHOENIX-XR units to Germany's Ministry of Defence.
The company said the award marks its largest European procurement of cooled thermal weapon sights.
The PHOENIX-XR is a cooled Medium Wave Infrared thermal weapon sight designed for long-range precision engagement.
Teledyne Technologies closed trading 0.25% higher at $607.87 on the New York Stock Exchange. In the overnight, the stock traded 0.91% lesser at $602.34.
