BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - The Switzerland market's benchmark index SMI ended little changed on Friday after moving along the flat line for much of the day's session, as investors largely refrained from making big moves, choosing to wait for some clear catalysts.
The SMI, which advanced to 14,442.16 after a flat start, dropped to 14,324.47 later on in the day before settling at 14,395.94, up 1.17 points or 0.01% from previous close.
VAT Group climbed 2.79% and Holcim gained 2.36%. Amrize advanced nearly 2% and Sika gained 1.4%.
Richemont, Logitech International, ABB, Swiss Life Holding, Nestle and UBS Group moved up 0.5%-1%.
Sandoz Group, Galderma Group and Lonza Group lost 2.5%-3%. Kuehne + Nagel, Novartis, Alcon, Helvetia Baloise Holding and Straumann Holding drifted down 1.1%-1.4%.
Givaudan, SGS, Partners Group, Sonova, Lindt & Spruengli and Swiss Re also closed weak.
