NCC has been commissioned by Hemsö in Finland to construct a new nursing home in Turku. The order value is approximately SEK 200 million.
The project was developed jointly by NCC and the social infrastructure company Hemsö. The nursing home, comprising approximately 7,800 square meters and 170 care places, will be operated by Varha (The Wellbeing Services County of Southwest Finland).
"The demand for healthcare and care services is increasing, making well-planned and functional facilities more important than ever. Together with Hemsö, we are now developing a facility that promotes residents' well-being and provides excellent conditions for Varha's employees for decades to come," says Esa Lehmusvuori, Department manager, NCC Building Nordics.
The new building will replace a nursing home from the 1960s that previously stood on the site and which could not be upgraded to meet the needs of modern nursing homes. The new nursing home is being built with the aim of achieving BREEAM Excellent certification.
"Our goal is to create flexible, long-term sustainable facilities for Varha that will support both elderly care and rehabilitation, as well as employees' work, for a long time ahead. We are pleased that the project is now moving into the construction phase," says Heini Jokinen, Construction manager, Hemsö.
Construction will commence in September 2026 and is scheduled for completion in spring 2028.
The order value is approximately SEK 200 million, and will be registered in the NCC Building Nordics business area in the third quarter of 2026.
