BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - Hungary's consumer price inflation increased for the second straight month in September, the Hungarian Central Statistical Office said on Wednesday.
Consumer prices climbed 1.6 percent year-on-year in September after rising 1.3 percent in August.
Costs for services grew 4.9 percent from last year, and those for consumer durable goods increased 1.2 percent. The deflation in food items eased slightly to 1.3 percent from 1.4 percent, and the decline in fuel and power prices softened to 4.0 percent from 4.3 percent.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.2 percent in September, the same as in August.
Data also showed that core inflation moderated to 1.9 percent in September from 2.0 percent in the prior month.
