Eltel has been awarded a EUR 34 million transmission line contract by Fingrid. This is the largest single transmission line project in Eltel's history in Finland to date.
The contract includes the construction of two parallel 400+110 kV transmission lines over a total distance of around 43 kilometers. The transmission line route is in the areas of Kuhmoinen, Padasjoki, Hämeenlinna and Janakkala municipalities. The project is part of Fingrid's larger overall scheme, in which the new transmission connection is divided into three contracts. Eltel has now been selected to implement the middle section. Eltel will begin construction work on site in October 2026, and the planned completion of the transmission line is in November 2028.
The Hikiä-Toivila connection is part of Fingrid's national grid development, aimed at increasing electricity transmission capacity and enabling the growth of renewable energy production as well as industrial investments in Finland. In the development of Finland's electricity transmission system, north-south transmission capacity plays a particularly important role, as production and consumption are increasingly located in different parts of the country.
