TOKYO (dpa-AFX) - IHI Corporation (IHICF, 7013.T), a Japanese industrial goods and machinery company, on Wednesday posted a surge in net income for the first quarter, supported by improved revenue. In addition, the company has revised up its annual outlook, citing strong first-quarter performance in Aero Engine, Space & Defense, and progress on property sales.
For the three-month period to June 30, the company reported net income of JPY 53.518 billion, or JPY 50.48 per share, higher than JPY 11.601 billion, or JPY 10.95 per share in the same period last year. Operating earnings were JPY 73.218 billion, compared with JPY 20.889 billion in the previous year.
Revenue was JPY 374.548 billion, up from JPY 337.791 billion in the previous year, mainly due to the expansion of growth businesses such as Civil Aero Engine, Defense, and Nuclear Energy Businesses.
Looking ahead, for the 12-month period to March 31, 2027 (the full year), IHI Corporation now anticipates net income of JPY 172 billion, up 6.8% from last year. Basic income per share is now projected to be at JPY 161.67. IHI Corporation now anticipates revenue of JPY 1.840 trillion, up 12% from the previous year.
Earlier, the company had projected net income of JPY 165 billion, or JPY 155.09 per basic share, on revenue of JPY 1.830 trillion for the full year.
For the full year, the company still plans to pay a total dividend of JPY 23 per share.
