BRUSSELS (dpa-AFX) - Swiss Re Ltd. (SSREY.PK) on Thursday reported an increase in net income for the first half of 2026, supported by strong underwriting performance across its businesses.
Net income increased 9% to $2.8 billion from a year earlier.
The group's insurance service result rose 15% year-on-year to $3.5 billion.
Insurance revenue declined 3% to $20.3 billion.
Property & Casualty Reinsurance (P&C Re) reported an 18% increase in net income to $1.4 billion, while its combined ratio improved to 76.7%.
Corporate Solutions posted a 14% increase in net income to $490 million, with a combined ratio of 86.1%.
Life & Health Reinsurance (L&H Re) delivered a 21% rise in net income to $1 billion, benefiting from favourable U.S. mortality experience.
Return on equity (ROE) was 22.7%, compared with 23% in the first half of 2025.
Return on Investment (ROI) was 4%, with a recurring income yield of 4.2%.
Looking ahead, Swiss Re said it remains on track to achieve its full-year 2026 net income target of $4.5 billion.
On Wednesday, Swiss Re shares closed up 0.66% at CHF 136.25.
