CANBERA (dpa-AFX) - Sentiment in global markets remains tethered to hopes of a deal to enable full reopening of the Strait of Hormuz amidst reports that Iran had reached an agreement with Oman on a temporary shipping route. Losses in memory chip makers and fresh worries about artificial intelligence weighed on market sentiment.
Wall Street Futures are trading slightly above the flatline as markets continue to hope for a peace deal between the U.S. and Iran. Major benchmarks in Europe are trading in mildly positive territory. Earlier in the day, major Asian markets finished trading on a mixed note.
The six-currency Dollar Index has edged up. Bond yields mostly hardened.
Crude oil prices are trading around a percent above the flatline. Gold is also trading in positive territory. Cryptocurrencies are trading on a mixed note.
