TOKYO (dpa-AFX) - Sanrio Co., Ltd. (8136.T), a Japanese entertainment company, on Monday reported higher profit for the first three months of fiscal 2026, driven by increased sales.
Profit attributable to owners of the parent rose to 15.516 billion yen or 12.75 yen per share from 14.190 billion yen or 11.79 yen per share in the prior-year period.
Operating profit increased 11.1% to 22.435 billion yen from 20.198 billion yen.
Ordinary profit rose 12% to 22.624 billion yen from 20.205 billion yen.
Net sales increased 20.7% to 52.035 billion yen from 43.097 billion yen a year ago.
For the first half of fiscal 2026, Sanrio sees net sales of 107.2 billion yen, up 22.3% year-on-year. Operating profit is expected to increase 8% to 42.3 billion yen. Profit attributable to owners of the parent is forecast to increase 11.2% to 30.6 billion yen, with basic earnings per share of 25.24 yen.
For fiscal 2026, Sanrio forecasts net sales of 229.8 billion yen, up 18.4% from last year. Operating profit is expected to increase 15% to 89.5 billion yen. Profit attributable to owners of the parent is forecast to increase 16.8% to 63.8 billion yen, with basic earnings per share of 52.62 yen.
In Tokyo, Sanrio shares rose 4.12% before closing at 1,454.50 yen on Monday.
