NORTHAMPTON, MA / ACCESS Newswire / October 8, 2026 / When a hurricane is possible, preparing before conditions worsen can help families stay safer, more informed and connected.
According to the National Hurricane Center (NHC), Tropical Storm Isaias has formed in the Gulf and is forecast to rapidly strengthen, becoming a hurricane by Thursday as it turns northeast and north toward the northern Gulf Coast later this week. While uncertainty remains around its exact track, intensity and impacts, the NHC says there is an increasing risk of dangerous wind and storm surge impacts along portions of the northern Gulf Coast and urges residents from Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle to monitor the forecast and make sure their hurricane plans are in place.
T-Mobile is taking steps to prepare
Our teams are topping off generators, readying equipment and positioning resources ahead of potential impacts. We're also using advanced network technology, including Self-Organizing Network (SON) capabilities, to help optimize network performance as conditions change. AI-powered Dynamic CX is another tool available to our teams to help anticipate changing network needs and adjust capacity as conditions evolve.
At the same time, we're working directly with public safety and emergency management partners across the Gulf Coast to identify anticipated communications needs and priority locations.
Eligible first responders and agencies can receive 30 days of T-Priority at no charge through a secondary SIM or eSIM on a compatible, unlocked device, or through loaner devices. T-Priority provides prioritized connectivity on T-Mobile's network during times of congestion, including satellite connectivity that adds another way to stay connected when terrestrial coverage is unavailable.
As the forecast evolves, we're prepared to deploy additional portable generators, mobile network assets including SatCOLTs (Satellite Cell on Light Trucks) and drones, and community support trucks and trailers where they may be needed to help keep customers, first responders and communities connected.
And while our teams prepare, there are simple steps you can take now to help make sure you and the people you care about are ready, too.
Get Your Tech Storm-Ready
Take a few minutes to prepare the technology that can help you stay connected and informed. Charge phones, tablets and backup batteries. Enable emergency alerts and download important information you may need if connectivity is disrupted. Keep charging cables and portable power banks with your emergency supplies, and protect devices from water and other potential damage.

During an emergency, always follow instructions and evacuation guidance from local authorities.
Make a Plan for the People Who Matter Most
Preparedness isn't just about supplies. It's also knowing what your family will do if plans suddenly change.
Where will you meet if you're separated? How will you reach one another? Who is your out-of-area contact? What will you do if you need to evacuate? Does your plan account for medications, accessibility needs, children, older family members and pets?
Our Family Emergency Plan can help you put those answers in one place so everyone knows what to do and where to find important information.
Click on 'Download Media Assets' above and take a few minutes to fill it out together, then make sure everyone has access to a copy.
