Regulatory News:
Michel Landel, Chief Executive Officer of Sodexo (PARIS:SW) (OTCBB:SDXAY), has called upon the 380,000 Sodexo employees across the globe to join forces for the annual Sodexo "Servathon". Held each April, the Servathon is a month long mobilization that works to engage employees to donate food, serve meals and raise money to help the one billion people that suffer from hunger and malnutrition around the world. It is the second year for this global Sodexo event, launched in the United States fourteen years ago.
Sodexo, world leader in Quality of Daily Life Solutions, has an ongoing commitment to help people who face hunger and malnutrition in the communities it serves. The "Servathon" is coordinated under Sodexo's "STOP Hunger" initiative which works to fight hunger and malnutrition in the countries where the Group operates, thanks to four areas of action: volunteering, sharing expertise, food donations, and financial donations. In 2009, Sodexo had STOP Hunger programs in 29 countries where 362 major initiatives were connected to 237 NGOs and associations.
Last year, 20 countries (including Brazil, Hungary, Australia, Madagascar, and Russia) across five continents took part in hunger relief activities during Sodexo "Servathon". More than 35,000 Sodexo employees helped to collect more than 100,000 kilograms of food for organizations active in the battle against hunger.
"Sodexo employees touch the daily lives of 50 million people around the world. They give life to service spirit to improve the Quality of Daily Life of all the people we serve, said Michel Landel, Sodexo CEO and President of Sodexo STOP Hunger Association. We are proud of their commitment to combat hunger and malnutrition in their local communities, which is the concrete development of our values and fundamentals".
The worldwide programs lead under the STOP Hunger initiative are in line with Sodexo's global strategy of sustainable development. The Group has recently formalized its commitments in its "Better Tomorrow Plan". Sodexo has namely committed to develop its STOP Hunger program in the 80 countries where the Group operates by 2020.
