Scripps Networks Interactive (NYSE: SNI) has appointed Bob Baskerville as general manager, Scripps Networks International. Baskerville, 46, will oversee all day-to-day operations of Scripps' growing international division, and will report to Scripps Networks International President Greg Moyer. Baskerville will work primarily out of Scripps' New York City offices.
"Bob brings a high level of expertise in many important aspects of our business from program production and scheduling to marketing and brand development," Moyer said. "As a Scripps Networks veteran, Bob has gained the respect and reputation that will be invaluable as we expand the Scripps Networks footprint around the world."
Citing international expansion as a key corporate growth strategy, Scripps Networks Interactive has made substantial progress in establishing its lifestyle brands across the globe. Food Network is now available in the UK and across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Fine Living Network launched April 1 across EMEA, and in South Africa on May 1. Food and FLN combined now serve over 15 million television households in more than 60 countries outside North America.
"With four channel feeds on the air and another about to launch, Scripps Networks International is deeply immersed in channel operations around the world," Moyer said. "Bob will ensure that critical path functions take place in a smooth and predictable manner."
In his previous position as president of Scripps Emerging Networks, Baskerville directed business strategy, content development and operations of DIY Network and Fine Living Network. Prior to that, he held the position of DIY Network president, where he has taken the home improvement network from a startup to one of the highest-rated digital networks in all of cable.
Baskerville joined Scripps Networks in 1994 as the director of production for the launch of HGTV and then moved over to supervise production for Cinetel Studios. In 1996, he was named vice president of production with Cinetel Studios. He held that title until his appointment to senior vice president of Scripps Productions.
