Artesian Resources, (Nasdaq: ARTNA), a leading provider of water, wastewater and engineering services on the Delmarva Peninsula, is promoting the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA's) "Fix a Leak Week," a national endeavor to spread awareness of water conservation. The campaign, sponsored by the EPA's WaterSense® program, serves as a reminder to Americans to check household plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems for leaks.
"Minor water leaks account for over 10,000 gallons of water wasted per home every year, and over 1 trillion gallons of water in the country," said Dian C. Taylor, Chair, President & CEO of Artesian Resources. "Artesian Resources is participating in Fix a Leak Week to help conserve water in our community and to help you save money on your utility bills."
In an event to promote Fix a Leak Week, Artesian is partnering with Home Depot on Saturday, March 20 to provide home water audit kits, leak detector tablets and information from the EPA's WaterSense program. Home Depot will display WaterSense approved devices, such as High Efficiency Toilets that use 1.3 gallons or less per flush, low-flow kitchen and bath faucets and low-flow showerheads. The public is encouraged to head out to Home Depot locations in Christiana, New Castle and Middletown from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and in Dover from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In addition, Artesian Resources and WaterSense are encouraging people to identify and repair dripping faucets, running toilets, and leaky showerheads. To see whether your home has any water leaks, check your water meter before and after a two-hour period when no water is being used. If the meter does not read exactly the same, you may have a leak.
In most cases, fixture replacement parts pay for themselves quickly and can be installed by yourself or your favorite handy person. Artesian Resources reminds you to be on the lookout for the WaterSense label, which shows that the product is independently tested and certified to save water and perform as well as or better than standard models.
