Cloud-based video conferencing solution introduced at the Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) Annual Conference & Exposition
LiNKS Sign Language and Interpreting Services® is introducing a new LiNKS Video Remote Interpreting (VRI) service based on the popular Nefsis cloud-based video conferencing solution in Booth #903 at the upcoming Professionals in Human Resources Association (PIHRA) Annual Conference & Exposition being held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California August 28 – 31, 2011.
Using an off-site interpreter connected to the Internet, VRI provides foreign language and sign language interpreting services for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals when an on-site interpreting service is not practical or immediately available. All that is needed for the service is a standard PC, Internet connection, and webcam.
Using the cloud-based Nefsis HD video conferencing service, LiNKS is offering VRI using a software-as-a-service (SaaS) delivery model, so it is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
The Nefsis video conferencing cloud offering eliminates the need for high-quality, multipoint video conferencing systems in business and court settings that required a huge infrastructure investment in video routers, multichannel units, gateway servers and more. The Nefsis solution makes it affordable for organizations to offer secure, HD-quality Video Remote Interpreting at their facilities and expand their reach to include to just about any Internet-equipped location.
"Our VRI service is appropriate for a variety of professional and non-professional settings, including corporate, medical, educational, governmental, entertainment, conventions, religious organizations and more," stated Chuck Scarpaci, Director of LiNKS. "All you need for effective VRI is a basic PC, webcam, and Internet connection, and because the Nefsis cloud handles all the performance and security issues no matter where the conference takes place, our clients are assured of complying with the Americans with Disabilities Act in all situations where an interpreter is required by law."
New accessible design standards under The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became effective on March 15, 2011. The new Title III rule involved standards for accessible designs that are consistent with the ADA/ABA Accessibility Guidelines. VRI service is one of the nine design standards. Compliance with standards for new construction and alterations and barrier removal take effect on March 15, 2012.
