Combating terrorism and cybercrime, as well as critical infrastructure protection, will be the focus of the 11th annual Government Security Expo & Conference (GovSec) featuring U.S. Law Enforcement Conference & Exposition, happening April 2-4, 2012, in Washington, D.C.
Over the course of three days, GovSec attendees will have the opportunity to hear from experts on these topics during free keynote addresses and 36 conference sessions, as well as explore products and services designed to aid law enforcement and government agencies from more than 165 exhibitors expected at the two-day Expo. This year, as an added bonus, GovSec attendees also will be able to attend sessions at two co-located conferences: the Contingency Planning & Management Conference and Expo and the Network-Centric Security Conference and Exposition.
What's Happening at GovSec 2012
GovSec offers three days of intensive training, expert-led educational sessions and access to vendors of the latest products and services to aid in security efforts. GovSec highlights include:
- Half-Day Workshops – GovSec opens on April 2 with a series of half-day workshops designed to provide attendees with in-depth, hands-on training on topics from employee credentialing and lie detection to developing business continuity plans and installing high-definition security systems.
- Keynote Addresses – GovSec will host keynote addresses featuring thought leaders, such as former Senate Majority Leader George J. Mitchell, who served as U.S. Special Envoy for Middle East Peace in the Obama Administration, and Ralph S. Boelter, assistant director of the FBI's Counterterrorism Division. The keynote addresses will be free and open to all attendees.
- Free Expo and Live Demos – Open for all to attend at no cost for qualified attendees, the two-day GovSec Expo will showcase resources and solutions from industry leading vendors. Expo visitors also can see live demos on K-9 explosive detection, and bomb squad response and robotics, as well as test their skill, speed and judgment in true-to-life shooting simulations
- Free Expo Education Sessions – In the exhibit hall attendees will find a variety of free educational sessions, including a series of Featured Presentations, delivered by professional organizations in the government security and law enforcement communities, which offer career development in a number of competencies. There are also Agency Briefings, where attendees can learn about homeland security and law enforcement programs they can use in their agencies and departments In addition, attendees can go to presentations in the Mobile Apps Experience to learn about mobile device security, forensic tools and enterprise-class mobile applications for government security professionals and first responders.
- Conference Sessions – Throughout April 3 and 4, GovSec will offer three tracks of programming, focusing on Critical Infrastructure Protection, Cyber Terrorism and Cybercrime, and Counter Terrorism: Domestic and International, featuring speakers who are the foremost experts in these fields. GovSec attendees registered for the conference sessions also can attend sessions on contingency planning and management, and network-centric security, at the two conferences co-located with GovSec.
