The Hardys Stamp of Australia range, which offers one of
Australia's most popular, easy to drink selections of wines at
affordable prices, has added two new blends to its line-up: a Shiraz
Cabernet Sauvignon and a Shiraz Grenache.
"Blending Shiraz with other varieties has been a long-standing tradition in Australia," says Sally Osborne, Marketing Director for Hardys Stamp of Australia. "The Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon is a classic Aussie blend, marrying the spicy character of Shiraz with the body of Cabernet Sauvignon. With the recent resurgence in the popularity of rose wines, as consumers and critics alike begin to realize their potential, we felt that it was time for Hardys to make a rose of its own. Using two of the two great Australian varietals, Shiraz and Grenache, we've succeeded in producing a truly refreshing wine. Served chilled, this wine makes the perfect accompaniment to everything from summer barbecue to spicy Thai dishes, and is just as nice on its own."
The 2003 Hardys Stamp of Australia Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon is medium to deep purple in color and displays spicy white pepper, red cherry and black currant aromas. This wine tastes of fresh fruit and subtle vanillin toasty oak. Soft tannins provide complexity, resulting in a very approachable, fruit-driven and distinctive style of wine.
The 2005 Hardys Stamp of Australia Shiraz Grenache rose is a brilliant light crimson pink in color and displays aromas of fresh strawberries. Sweet berry fruit flavors dominate the palate. Bracing acidity with a slight hint of sweetness, coupled with its bright fruit, give this wine a luscious, mouthwatering finish.
Both wines are available nationally for a suggested retail price of $6.99.
