InterVideo(R), Inc. (Nasdaq:IVII) and its partner
Ulead(R) Systems, Inc. (TSE:2487), industry leaders in video, image
and DVD software, today announced the latest version of Ulead DVD
MovieFactory(R) 5. New features that have been added to the company's
consumer DVD authoring package include easy disc authoring, an
expanded range of creative options and future-ready support for both
the HD DVD and Blu-ray disc formats.
With support for the new high-definition formats, users will enjoy the amazingly sharp images that high-definition video provides while making a giant leap in storage capacity.
"We're very excited about advancing MovieFactory into the high-definition age," said Eldon C. M. Liu, president of Ulead. "With support for both HD disc formats, DVD MovieFactory 5 offers users the best video experience no matter which standard they choose. It's so easy, even inexperienced users can use the professional-style menus to burn discs with that will play back their HD video content in their full, original resolution. But even consumers who haven't yet invested in HD devices, will find that DVD MovieFactory 5's terrific interface and compelling creative features make it the best choice for anyone who wants to quickly create personalized video and slideshow discs."
Capture/Edit
Users can capture video from any source, including DV or HDV camcorders, DVB-T digital broadcasts, or VCRs. Captured videos can then be trimmed and enhanced by adding titles, and select background music with DVD MovieFactory's Video Editing Toolbox.
DVD MovieFactory's Multi-trim editor now features responsive AccuCut scrubbing controls that allow users to zoom in to the frame-level to make precise cuts for removing unwanted footage. For users who want to capture their favorite TV shows and burn them to disc, DVD MovieFactory now includes Ad-Zapper, a feature that scans video and automatically detects commercials. Users can then easily remove the ads, for an uninterrupted viewing experience.
Authoring
When laying out menus for HD or standard DVDs, users now have a whole new arsenal of creative tools. SmartScene menus feature a large preview window which changes content when the viewer rolls over a text item. Motion filters bring still-image backgrounds to life. Text and objects can be freely rotated, resized and repositioned, to make pleasing menu compositions.
Unique to consumer authoring software, DVD MovieFactory now offers Menu Transitions. These enable pleasing visual transitions between menus and titles. Commonly seen in commercial DVDs, menu transitions have previously only been possible with professional authoring packages.
Slideshows
Digital cameras and camera phones continue to be hot sellers, and one of the best ways to share photos is with a digital slideshow on disc. DVD MovieFactory 5 lets users arrange and enhance their photos, apply smooth transitions and add a soundtrack before burning to CD or DVD.
Data/Audio Storage
For quick burning projects, DVD MovieFactory features an intuitive Quick-Drop desktop utility, which lets users burn video, photos, music or data onto any disc format, including high-capacity HD discs.
Pricing and Availability
DVD MovieFactory 5 will be available in box and electronic versions in retail stores and at www.ulead.com for USD 49.99 starting in late March. Users of DVD MovieFactory versions 3 and 4 can upgrade at www.ulead.com for USD 39.99.
