WHO/WHAT: Leading workwear manufacturer Williamson-Dickie Mfg. Co.
announces that Linda Gurkin of Willis, TX was awarded
$50,000 in the Dickies(R) "Race For The Riches" promotion
during yesterday's Dickies 500 NASCAR race at Texas Motor
Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas. Gurkin was one of five
finalists eligible for the prize, which she received
following her selection of Kevin Harvick as her
corresponding Race For The Riches driver. Harvick finished
second in the race, the highest of any of the five
finalists' drivers, in the Dickies 500, capturing points
toward the Chase For The Nextel Cup, which concludes on
November 19th at the Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in
Florida.
In addition to the $50,000 prize, Gurkin also received an
all-expenses-paid trip, along with four other finalists, to
Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth for the Dickies 500 race
weekend, which included race qualifying and chance to meet
racing legend Richard Childress and their corresponding
drivers. The weekend was truly a NASCAR fan's dream come
true.
WHY: To many American workers, their Dickies workwear is as
important as their tools or their vehicle. Dickies wanted to
reward this loyalty and the contributions of the everyday
worker by giving back with the Race For The Riches
promotion. The promotion is designed to allow one lucky
winner the chance to live out their NASCAR dreams and help
them fulfill their American dream.
HOW: The Race For The Riches promotion launched May 5 with
entrants visiting www.dickies.com with a UPC code from a
recent Dickies purchase or via sweepstakes entry. Entrants
were guided through an online game and added to the pool of
contest hopefuls. Finalists were chosen by an independent
judging agency and announced on Sept. 14 during the Texas
Motor Speedway Dickies 500 driver media lunch.
On Friday, Nov. 3 prior to the Nextel Cup qualifying, each
finalist drew a number from 1 to 43 corresponding to a
position in the pole for the race. Their driver is then
whichever driver in the Dickies 500 qualifies in that
position.
