Beth Israel Medical Center Expands Document Workflow Solutions from Streamline Health(R)

CINCINNATI, Feb. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Streamline Health Solutions, Inc. , one of the leading providers of integrated document workflow solutions, today announced that Beth Israel Medical Center, a member of Continuum Health Partners in New York City, will expand their Streamline Health document workflow solutions into the preoperative department across several additional healthcare facilities. Under this expanded agreement, Beth Israel will utilize Streamline Health's remote hosting services to facilitate the implementation and management of these solutions.

Streamlining Processes to Enhance Patient Care

With 1,106 beds at three major hospital divisions, Beth Israel Medical Center is one of the largest providers of inpatient care in the state of New York, with a reputation that extends well beyond New York City. Serving New Yorkers with innovative care since 1889, Beth Israel's healthcare facilities are well known for providing care in specialty areas, such as cancer centers, cardiology and ambulatory practices to name a few. In line with their commitment to innovative care, Beth Israel plans to expand Streamline Health's workflow solutions to include FolderView(TM), for use in their preoperative department. This solution will provide pre-admission nurses and clinicians with web-based access to preoperative documents that are critical prior to surgery. The hospital currently uses Streamline Health's solutions for Health Information Management to enhance information flow and ensure the continuous delivery of excellent patient care.

"Through Streamline Health's document workflow and hosting solutions, Beth Israel will benefit from immediate access to critical patient information, process improvements across our acute care facilities and the ability to leverage this technology to better serve patients and their families," commented Dr. Tom Karson, chief medical information officer at Continuum Health Partners.

Using Streamline Health's remote hosting services, Beth Israel Medical Center will utilize a centralized document repository for current and historical patient health information and provide their acute care facilities with convenient access for retrieval of essential patient records. The remote hosting option will offer the hospital the technical support and expertise to get this operation up-to-speed in a timely manner, allowing them to focus on the daily demands of providing quality healthcare services.

"Streamline Health looks forward to providing Beth Israel Medical Center with a broader set of document workflow solutions that will ultimately enable them to provide optimal patient care within their community," according to Brian Patsy, president and CEO of Streamline Health. "Our solutions are designed to support healthcare decision processes and work in sync with the hospital's workflow."

About Beth Israel Medical Center

Beth Israel Medical Center is a 1,106-bed, full-service tertiary teaching hospital that was founded on Manhattan's Lower East Side before the turn of the 20th century. Now a century later, the Medical Center serves individuals and families from every walk of life throughout New York City and beyond. Beth Israel is a member of Continuum Health Partners, Inc.

Continuum Health Partners, Inc. was formed in January, 1997, as a partnership of two venerable health care providers, Beth Israel Medical Center and St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center. Building upon the strengths of both institutions, the partners soon established a broad-based, integrated health services network extending throughout the New York metropolitan region. In May, 1998, the partnership was joined by a third distinguished institution, Long Island College Hospital, located in the Brooklyn Heights/Cobble Hill section of Brooklyn. Continuum continues to grow with the addition of another outstanding institution with a 100-year tradition of excellent specialty care, the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Today, participation in the Continuum partnership enables each member institution to better fulfill its traditional mission by making available an impressive array of resources for the provision of state-of-the-art and compassionate care. Together, Continuum is superbly equipped to identify and respond to the health-related needs of the populations served in a patient- and physician-friendly environment.
