Marsh Inc., the world's leading risk and insurance services firm, today announced the appointment of chief operating officers for three of its core business sectors. The executives are: Patricia Hagemann, who has been named COO of the Americas; David Lessing, COO of U.S. Middle Market, and Philip Petronis, COO of Global Products and Services Management.
Ms. Hagemann reports to Timothy J. Mahoney, Jr., CEO - Americas & G5. Her responsibilities include driving process enhancements and operating efficiencies throughout the firm's extensive operations in the Americas. Previously, she was CFO of North America operations. A graduate of Wagner College, Ms. Hagemann has held a number of senior leadership positions with Marsh during the course of her 26-year career with the firm.
Mr. Lessing, who reports to Mark Feuer, head of U.S. Middle Market, joins Marsh from Merrill Lynch, where he was managing director and chief operating officer of the Direct Division. Previously, he led the Americas strategy group of Merrill Lynch and was responsible for developing and executing key brokerage business initiatives. Earlier, he was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company, working with financial institutions on their brokerage, asset management, and investment banking businesses. He has a B.A. degree in Economics from Harvard College and a J.D. from Harvard Law School.
Mr. Petronis reports to Philip V. Moyles, Jr., executive vice president of Marsh. Global Products and Services Management encompasses Marsh's risk practices, risk specialties, placement, global industry teams, and managing general agent (MGA) businesses, as well as Private Equity and M&A Services (PEMA), market relationship management, and global product management. Mr. Petronis will be responsible for assisting Mr. Moyles in developing and executing a growth strategy for Global Products and Services in coordination with the distribution and operations of Marsh.
Mr. Petronis has been with Marsh and other companies of Marsh & McLennan Companies for more than 32 years. Most recently, he was executive vice president and CFO of Guy Carpenter, and a member of that firm's Executive Committee. Earlier, he was a principal of MMC Capital and was involved in its formation in 1993. He also has held numerous client-facing and management positions with Marsh in New York and Philadelphia. Mr. Petronis has a B.A. degree from New York University and an MBA from NYU's Stern School of Business.
