BlogHer, Inc. (http://blogher.org), the Web's number one guide to women bloggers, recently announced a new global activism initiative called BlogHers Act. This initiative will harness the energies, ingenuity and influence of the women who blog. BlogHers Act was announced on BlogHer.org at: http://blogher.org/node/20421
"We are very proud to introduce BlogHers Act. Just as the BlogHer Conference is the conference the community built, we want BlogHers Act to take on the cause the community develops," said BlogHer co-founders Elisa Camahort, Jory Des Jardins and Lisa Stone.
This year at BlogHer '07 in Chicago on July 27-29, 2007, BlogHer will unveil the BlogHers Act issue the community has rallied behind and launch the community's aggressive plan for the next twelve months of results-oriented action, culminating in a case study of online community activism at BlogHer '08. BlogHer's co-founders have asked Emily McKhann and Cooper Munroe from The Motherhood.com (http://themotherhood.com) and the Been There Clearinghouse Hurricane Blog (http://beenthereclearinghouse.com/) to lead this important effort.
"We're thrilled to see that the BlogHers Act initiative is already creating interest and building buzz," said project leaders Emily McKhann and Cooper Munroe. "Hundreds of people have already submitted their suggestions for the BlogHers Act via blog posts and blog comments. The range and depth of the discussions are inspiring."
BlogHers Act has garnered coverage in top media outlets such as the Washington Post (http://blog.washingtonpost.com/onbalance/), and in only one week Google search hits on the term "BlogHers Act" has gone from zero to more than 24,000.
