SolArc, an innovative, market-focused software company that dramatically improves the performance of commodity-intensive businesses, announced today that Japan Airlines (JAL) has selected SolArc RightAngle as its "Next Generation Fuel Administration System (NGFAS)." One of the world's largest airline passenger and cargo carriers, JAL Group manages jet fuel for a fleet of 276 aircraft serving more than 400 international and domestic routes.
After an extensive evaluation of potential fuel management software solutions, JAL identified SolArc RightAngle as the best solution to handle fuel procurement, market price hedging, fuel inventories, and the automation of Japan's fuel tax requirements. SolArc RightAngle consolidates JAL's fuel management information systems into a single solution for fuel supply contracts, fuel budget, inventory management, and automated supplier invoice processing, including complete fuel tax accruals. JAL will also use SolArc RightAngle for market price risk analysis and reporting as well as the adoption of IATA XML data standards for electronic invoicing.
Ryutaro Nambu, JAL's Deputy Vice President, Purchasing, said, "We find SolArc RightAngle will best suit our goals to introduce NGFAS under time pressure. We hope the new system will streamline our fuel management through integration, and will add new dimension to our challenges in curbing fuel costs."
Dale St. Denis, SolArc's Vice President of Commercial & Industrial Business, commented, "JAL was very diligent in their evaluation of potential solutions for a next generation fuel administration system. We are pleased to have JAL join the growing community of major airlines using SolArc RightAngle for jet fuel management. JAL is positioning for substantial growth and we look forward to working with them."
