The New Jobs in Information Systems: Who's Got Them? What Does it Take to Get Them? (Panel Discussion)
The New York Times (August 5, 2007) reports that Information Systems jobs are outpacing the traditional jobs of computer programmer, hardware engineer, and network systems administrator. Yet, there are few degrees available in this field, and even most Silicon Valley CIOs come from an unexpectedly broad spectrum of backgrounds.
The panelists will focus on what these jobs are and how working adults can develop the requisite expertise and academic credentials to transition to this burgeoning field.
Panelists will include:
-- Bill Crane, vice president of engineering, Proofpoint, Inc., former CIO of eLoan
-- Stephen Pieraldi, founder and CEO, iForem Inc.
-- Uy Ut, Director of Information Technology, San Jose Sharks
Uy Ut has been the Director of Information Technology for Silicon Valley Sports and Entertainment since 2007. In this position, Uy oversees all aspects of technology for the Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment properties which include the San Jose Sharks, HP Pavilion, SAP Open, Strikeforce and Sharks Ice. He brings over 10 years experience in information management and systems in his previous positions at Rodeph Sholom School in New York and Sotheby's in New York.
