SPEED President Hunter Nickell today announced Hawley T. Chester III has been promoted to the position of Vice President of Canadian Sales & Marketing for the Charlotte, N.C.-based motor sports and automotive lifestyle network.
"Hawley has such great, long-term relationships with all of the decision makers in Canada," Nickell said. "He continues to be an invaluable asset to the network."
Chester, who has served as Director of Canadian Sales & Marketing for SPEED since 2001, is responsible for negotiating for the distribution of SPEED on cable and satellite systems in Canada and managing marketing opportunities to enhance viewership and satisfaction with the network.
In addition, Chester will oversee Canadian affiliate relations for the Big Ten Network, a joint venture between subsidiaries of the Big Ten Conference and Fox Cable Networks which launched last August.
A graduate of the University of Denver, Chester has a long history in cable television, previously serving as Vice President of Canadian Sales & Marketing for Turner Broadcasting and Manager of Sports & Special Programming for Cox Cable Communications.
In 2004, Chester was elected to the Cable Television Pioneers organization, honored for his "special involvement in cable related issues" at the annual Cable Pioneers dinner during the National Show.
