Medical Device Leaders Recognized for Industry Achievements
The Southeastern Medical Device Association (SEMDA), a non-profit trade organization that supports medical device innovation in the Southeast, today announced the recipients of the 2009 SpotLight Awards. The awards will be presented during SEMDA’s 2009 Conference, to be held Tuesday, Feb. 10 at the Georgia Aquarium.
The SpotLight awards recognize outstanding achievement in fostering the growth of the medical device community in the Southeast, and are presented yearly to one professional and one medical device company. The 2009 award winners are:
- Jamie M. Grooms, co-founder, chairman and CEO of AxoGen, Inc., an Alachua, Florida company focused on peripheral nerve repair and regeneration. Grooms has extensive executive leadership experience launching, growing, and managing biotechnology companies.In addition to building AxoGen, he was co-founder and CEO of Regeneration Technologies, Inc., a leading supplier of allograft and xenograft implants for surgeries.
- Wright Medical Group, a global orthopaedic medical device company headquartered in Arlington, Tennessee.The firm specializes in the design, manufacture and marketing of reconstructive joint devices and biologics, including large joint implants for the hip and knee; extremity implants for the hand, elbow, shoulder, foot and ankle; and both synthetic and tissue-based bone graft substitute materials.Wright Medical has grown to over 1000 employees worldwide.
