* To close Philippines tire plant
* Says sales and marketing operations in the country are not affected
* Says production will be transferred to lower-cost plants in the company's
Asia-pacific region
* Says action will result in a reduction of about 500 of the company's 600
associates in the Philippines
* Says closure of plant in las pinas will result in reduction of nearly two
million units of annual production capacity
* Says plans to record about $20 million in charges associated with the closure
in Q3 2009
