UCE Mobility, UCE Desktop Client and UCE Attendant Now Provide for More Powerful Mobility, Collaboration and Productivity
NEC Unified Solutions, Inc. (NEC), a leading provider and integrator of advanced communications solutions, today introduced significant updates to its unified communications suite, UC for Enterprise (UCE), designed to meet the growing needs for business collaboration, mobility and productivity. Enhancements to the suite include the introduction of UCE Mobility, Microsoft® Outlook® integration for UCE Desktop Client, and new integration capabilities for the UCE Attendant.
“As organizations trim expenses and look to improve efficiencies in their business, they understand that giving their employees access to mobility and collaboration tools can help fill in the gaps,” said Jay Krauser, general manager, core solutions and engineering, NEC Unified Solutions. “These enhancements, which are the result of input from customers and dealers, bring new levels of productivity to the enterprise that can result in bottom line savings.”
UCE Mobility (UNIVERGE MC550)
When deployed with NEC’s enterprise-class UNIVERGE® SV8500 communications server, UCE Mobility empowers enterprise users with an array of powerful benefits, including:
- Single-number reach - with just one office number, users can be reached on any mobile device, regardless of location or network service provider.
- Easy-to-use interface - the combination of UCE Mobility and UCE Desktop Client enables users to remotely change their status and set contact rules for when to simultaneously ring multiple phone numbers.
- Simultaneous ring - users can designate up to five numbers to ring at the same time when the office number is dialed. When the voice call is answered by any device, other devices will cease to ring.
- Unified voicemail - with UCE Mobility, mobile users now have one voice mailbox to check for messages - all unanswered calls are directed to their corporate voicemail making voicemail retrieval a breeze. No more checking multiple voicemail boxes for business calls.
UCE Desktop Client (UNIVERGE UC700)
Also deployed with the SV8500 communications server, UCE Desktop Client now provides a centralized interface where users can access collaborative features and options, including:
- Microsoft Outlook Toolbar Integration - employee productivity is enhanced by providing a single, convenient interface for all communication, including enhanced presence, email, voice, and Instant Messaging.
- UC Collaboration - users can use UCE Desktop Client to move from an audio call into a full collaborative session with video, desktop or presentation sharing with a few clicks of the mouse.
- Conference Manager - UCE Desktop Client users can initiate ad hoc conference calls, drag and drop participants, or simply participate in a “meet-me” conference. This feature does require the NEC VS32 audio bridge or conference trunk cards on the communications server.
UCE Attendant (UNIVERGE UA5200)
The UCE Attendant is now NEC’s sole attendant console application for the enterprise market and features enhanced productivity features for general business, healthcare and hospitality. New add-on vertical features for the UCE Attendant include:
Hospitality
- Guest Directory Data via Guest Link
- Wake Up Manager
- Guest Messaging
Healthcare
- Patient Directory Data via Patient Link
- On Call Scheduling
- Physician Message Taking
All UCE applications and features rely upon the UCE Application Platform (UNIVERGE OW5000), which provides the presence engine and database infrastructure required by UCE as well as the developer tools for third-party solutions as part of the UNIVERGE Solutions Partner Program.
