Flu Shot Customers Also Eligible for 20 Percent Discount on Groceries

WHAT:	Â	Â	Seasonal flu shots are starting earlier this season. While flu season typically begins October 1, there is a great deal of concern about seasonal flu and H1N1 (swine flu).

WHO:			Cub Pharmacist Doug White administers flu shots and other immunizations at Cub Pharmacy. He is available to explain to consumers what to expect with this year’s flu season.

			Seasonal flu is related to nearly 36,000 U.S. deaths and 200,000 hospitalizations every year. White can discuss how the seasonal influenza virus is different from H1N1 and can talk about how the two vaccinations can help prevent each type. In light of the soon-to-come H1N1 immunization, White can talk about the importance of receiving the seasonal flu shot as early in the season as possible.

			Other topics White can discuss include possible side effects of the flu shot and symptoms of the flu, along with quick and easy ways to avoid colds and flu as the season approaches.

			Beginning Wednesday, September 16, customers who get a seasonal flu shot at a Cub Pharmacy will be eligible to save 20 percent on a future grocery shopping trip (must be redeemed by 12/31/09 and discount applies through 1/30/10) if they take advantage of any one of the following services:

			• Transfer or fill a new prescription at a Cub Pharmacy
			• Receive another immunization, including vaccines for pneumonia, shingles, tetanus or meningitis
			• Complete a private medication review with a Cub pharmacist
			• Complete Cub’s Tools for Living Healthy with Diabetes education program

			In addition to the grocery savings offer, beginning September 25 and while supplies last, customers will receive a free flu, cough and cold survival kit valued at $20. The kit includes product samples, coupons and tips for staying healthy during the cold and flu season.
