GOOM Radio (www.goomradio.com), a newly-founded Internet-based radio company offering professional programming in a unique digital music environment, reached agreement with all key publishing bodies and master rights holders to ensure compliance with the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act for US webcasters.
Through these agreements GOOM, which is currently operating in beta, has the proper structure in place to meet basic webcaster requirements as established by the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP); Broadcast Music, Inc (BMI); SESAC and SoundExchange. They have also taken all necessary steps to ensure full DMCA compliance upon launch.
“Greenberg Traurig is very proud to assist GOOM Radio’s founders, as they have invented a new model for radio,” says Mr. Joel Katz, who serves as Chair of the Global Media and Entertainment practice at Greenberg Traurig, LLP.
“I take great satisfaction in having worked personally with GOOM Radio, llc. to facilitate industry compliance. With proven success internationally and early signs of strength in the U.S., this is a natural next step in the company’s evolution as it plans for the future development of professional radio,” says Mr. Marc Jacobson, also with Greenberg Traurig.
With more than 1 million listeners in its first month of public beta, GOOM Radio is backed by funding from leading global venture capital firms: Partech International, Wellington Partners and Elaia Partners.
“GOOM Radio has seen a tremendous growth and developed a fan base in the European markets. We look forward to duplicating that success in the States,” says Emmanuel Jayr, founder and CEO of GOOM Radio, llc.
GOOM offers online radio listeners high sound quality through its proprietary G-Sound technology across multiple music genres including pop, rock, hip-hop, country, indie rock and alternative. The company has branded stations with AllHipHop.com, GossipCenter.com, Austin City Limits, and MasterBeat.com.
“Now that we’ve confirmed that GOOM meets the standards dictated by the industry organizations, we look forward to developing marketing relationships with both major and independent record labels,” says Tim Herbster, VP programming at GOOM Radio.
