Free subscription offer gives kids a fun new way to interact with the Jolly Old Elf
Santa Claus has signed on as the first BugleMe holiday icon, company officials announced today.
BugleMe is a fun and free new way for Santa to connect with children. The subscription service integrates audio call broadcasting and social networking into a single platform that allows celebrities to blast personal telephone messages to millions of subscribers and create private social networks that gives fans direct and immediate interaction.
In Santa Claus' BugleMe community, children and their parents can track Santa's travels all over the web and receive phone calls or "Bugles" from the Jolly Old Elf himself. Kids can respond to Santa's messages by pressing 1 and leaving a voice message that will be posted to the BugleMe community. Kids can also upload Christmas lists and photos and leave messages for Santa.
"Santa Claus knows that kids want more time with him than they can get from sitting in his lap at the mall once a year," said Rachael Qualls, BugleMe's chief executive officer. "While working on his strategic plan for Christmas 2009, Santa Claus decided it was time to go social."
When considering which social media tool to use, Santa Claus weighed his options very carefully. "This was not a hasty decision," he said. "If I were the kind of elf to jump on the latest technology, I would have traded in my sleigh for a Corvette in 1964. I've been waiting for the right social media technology to come along and BugleMe is it!"
Santa plans to "Bugle" about his reindeer, activities at the toy factory and the wind chill on the North Pole. He may even tell a few jokes.
BugleMe executives noted that they plan to add other holiday icons to the BugleMe lineup. Negotiations with St. Valentine, the Easter Bunny, Uncle Sam, the Tooth Fairy and the Thanksgiving Turkey are currently underway.
