Luidia's new eBeam Edge for Education has been designed especially for the classroom and features new Encyclopedia Britannica Ultimate Reference Suite software
Luidia, Inc., the award-winning developer of eBeam® interactive whiteboard technology, will be showcasing the eBeam Edge for Education, a lightweight, portable interactive whiteboard at BETT 2010 on Stand F108 in the Grand Hall. Luidia will also announce its partnership with Britannica, provider of world-class reference materials for the classroom.

Edge for Education
The eBeam Edge for Education allows users to
transform any projection area -- such as a wall or a whiteboard -- into
an interactive teaching space. The eBeam Edge can be shared among
classrooms, which is both convenient and cost effective for smaller
schools.
After the great success of its predecessor, eBeam
Projection, Luidia launches the eBeam Edge. The ultraportable eBeam Edge
weighs less than 200 grams and is about the size of an iPod. New
features include an ergonomic stylus with an ultra-responsive sensor for
a realistic writing and drawing experience and a magnetic mounting
system that allows the receiver to be placed in exactly the same
location every time.
The eBeam Edge comes with a new 2.3 version of
the eBeam Interact software which includes all of the standard BECTA
interactive whiteboard features, Interact also offers innovative
features such as free meeting sharing and a Flickr®-integrated Gallery
search. The iconic eBeam Tool Palette provides educators with intuitive
tools to enliven lessons and presentations.
A major advantage to
all of the eBeam systems (including the Edge for Education) is the
ability to record regular marker notes from any dry wipe whiteboard back
to a computer. This is ideal for schools that don't have money for
projectors yet, but still want to create digital content.
New partnership for more interactive education
Britannica
now available in the eBeam Interact software: Luidia has partnered with
Encyclopedia Britannica to bring its Ultimate Reference Suite to eBeam
users. The Ultimate Reference Suite provides a rich library of
multimedia content that can be used to enliven lessons including 31,000
image, audio and video files.
Other features include:
- Britannica Classics (articles from famous Britannica contributors)
- The Britannica BrainStormer interactive tool for discovering new ideas and relationships between topics;
- Book of the Year (a review of annual events)
- World Atlas including more than 2,600 maps
- Merriam-Webster® Collegiate and Student Dictionaries Thesauruses and Spanish-English Translation Dictionary
