Targets individuals who sell or recommend IT products
CompTIA, the leading trade association for the information technology (IT) industry, today announced the worldwide availability of the latest exam in its CompTIA Strata certificate program.
CompTIA Strata - IT Technology for Sales is targeted at individuals who are currently active in or are considering a career in technical sales or are responsible for recommending IT products.
"A sales person with the right mix of technical knowledge and customer service skills is worth their weight in commissions and spiffs," said Terry Erdle, senior vice president, skills certifications, CompTIA. "But this combination of skills has too often been in short supply for tech companies. We've developed this exam specifically to address this shortage."
The CompTIA Strata - IT Technology for Sales exam tests an individual's ability to engage customers using effective communication skills; identify the type of technology user; provide appropriate solutions based on customer requirements; and coordinate with technical staff throughout the sales process. Ongoing customer care and engagement skills and methods to ensure customer satisfaction are also part of the exam.
Topics covered in the exam include:
- Technology and computer hardware basics
- Compatibility issues and software compliance
- Preventative maintenance and green IT
- Sales and communication skills
The exam includes 70 questions which must be completed in 60 minutes. A passing score of 70 percent or higher is required. Individuals who pass the exam will receive the CompTIA Strata - IT Technology for Sales certificate of completion.
Exams are delivered at Pearson VUE and Prometric testing centers around the world. Courseware will be available from Axzo Press and Element K.
The CompTIA Strata certificate series was developed to provide individuals with a means to test their knowledge of basic IT terminology and technology. CompTIA's Strata program offers fundamental to advanced certificates that validate a wide range of subjects in IT, including PC concepts, technical sales and green IT.
CompTIA Strata certificates are relevant to a broad range of people including students looking to gauge their aptitude and interest for a career in IT; prospective employees who want to demonstrate their readiness to enter the IT workforce; and individuals looking to raise their level of knowledge about today's technologies. Students and professionals holding a CompTIA Strata certificate demonstrate that they have the knowledge required to enter and excel in IT and technology-related fields.
