ELMOS chip E910.48 complies with OEM requirements
Dortmund: With the E910.48 ELMOS presents a LIN System Basic chip
comprising a LIN transceiver, a voltage regulator and a watchdog. The
semiconductor can be used with every µC in an automotive. Strong emphasis
has been laid on EMC and ESD measures to fulfill the high automotive
requirements. As a result, a system level ESD stability of more than 12kV
(according to IEC61000-4-2) has been achieved. Therefore the chip can be
used in most cases without additional ESD protection.
The E910.48 fulfills the high requirements commonly agreed by the German
OEMs and is also approved for French and US-American OEMs. The E91.48A is
available as a series product. Samples and series products of the chip as
well as an evaluation board are available and can be ordered at
http://www.elmos.de/englisch/products/order-samples.html
There are three ways to activate the voltage regulator: 1. exceeding a
power-on threshold after the battery supply had been low, 2. a remote
wake-up frame on the bus, 3. a local digital signal wake-up on the enable
pin. Slope detection and debounce reliably avoid cyclic wake-up in case of
different kinds of undefined bus potentials. A falling edge at the enable
input forces the IC into sleep mode and deactivates the voltage regulator.
The output voltage can be selected to be 5V or 3.3V. The integrated voltage
regulator supplies the application with a load current of up to 100mA. If
needed, higher currents can be realized by means of an external transistor.
The voltage regulator allows stable operation with a bypass capacitor as
low as 100nF and therefore reduces the costs for external components.
The chip with a LIN1.3, LIN 2.0, LIN 2.1 and SAE-J2602 compatible
transceiver in addition has a watchdog with a time-window, which can be
adjusted from 3ms up to 75ms. The watchdog and the reset generation are
configurable in various ways. As a reset threshold following values are
possible: 3,25V or 4,45V (5V mode) or 2,94V (3,3V mode). Reset time can be
9ms or 65ms. Common values can be defined without external components,
thereby minimizing system costs and maximizing reliability.
In combination with a very low standby-by current (typ. 20µA) the E910.48
is a high-performance semiconductor for LIN networks. For additional
