Openwave® Passport Nominated for Meffys Mobile Entertainment Awards in the Innovative Business Model Category
Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq:OPWV), Openwave Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: OPWV), a global software innovator delivering context-aware mediation and messaging solutions, today announced that Openwave Passport, a service that enables operators to grow new data revenue streams through pay as you consume Web browsing plans and dynamic promotion of new service tariffs at the point of interest, was named a finalist in the innovative business model category for the Meffys Mobile Entertainment Awards.
"Openwave is pleased to have been recognized as an award finalist for a Traffic Mediation product that we consider core to our overall portfolio and an essential tool to manage the mobile data tsunami," said John Giere, senior vice president, products and marketing, Openwave. "Passport helps enables operators to offer a range of different data access plans to their subscribers, from a monthly recurring plan with specified "fair usage" limits to a more flexible pay-as-you-go, time-based "pass" that might be more suitable to the casual data user. We believe that Passport will help operators proactively offer metered service plans that enable them to better serve their customers and manage network costs."
As the industry's official benchmark for measuring success and rewarding innovation, the Meffys, now in their seventh year, recognize and honor the most influential mobile media players from around the world. This year, Meffys received entries covering 60+ countries which were judged by 45 journalists and analysts. Building on last year's sold-out gala event, the organization is expecting 400+ international industry leaders and press to attend the Meffys gala dinner on 21 June in London this year.
