Jenzabar's e-Racer Meets Learning Standards for Common Cartridge and Basic Learning Tools Interoperability
Jenzabar®, Inc., a leading provider of software, services and strategies for higher education, announced today that the IMS Global Learning Consortium has certified Jenzabar for both Basic Learning Tools Interoperability and Common Cartridge.
Jenzabar's learning management system, e-RacerTM, and Jenzabar's Internet Campus Solution (JICS) are compliant with the IMS Basic Learning Tools Interoperability v1.0 specifications, helping provide a more seamless experience for teachers to facilitate student learning with the integration of eLearning tools and applications. e-Racer also meets the IMS Common Cartridge v1.0 specifications, supporting an open standard for the import of digital learning content from textbook publishers and other providers.
"Jenzabar's conformance to Common Cartridge and Basic LTI will significantly enhance the variety of third-party content and applications that can be easily used in the Jenzabar learning environment," said Dr. Rob Abel, Chief Executive of IMS Global Learning Consortium. "Jenzabar has worked closely with IMS to be one of the first to make the benefits of both Common Cartridge and Basic LTI available to their customers."
Basic Learning Tools Interoperability is an open standard for seamless integration of educational web applications with learning management platforms and portals. Basic LTI provides a common application launch and single-sign-on framework to supplement or replace vendor-specific APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) across learning management systems, course authoring, collaboration, homework, assessment, and e-Portfolio applications.
Common Cartridge enables the integration of digital learning resources such as courses, e-books, tests, quizzes, simulations, online discussions, and forums, in an interoperable format. The Common Cartridge standard streamlines the process of providing content across multiple LMS platforms and multiple instructor and classroom sites, while ensuring the quality objectives established by the curriculum designer are maintained.
"Our certifications with IMS Basic LTI and Common Cartridge demonstrate our commitment to interoperability for our learning management system, e-Racer, and our Internet portal, JICS," said Robert A. Maginn, Jr., Jenzabar Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. "By incorporating the open standard guidelines set by the IMS Global Learning Consortium, we can help create a more efficient and interactive learning environment and help our client institutions enhance the academic experience."
