A variety of special events greets visitors this summer
As the busy summer travel season arrives, Philadelphia International Airport is taking the extra step to ensure that visitors of all ages will have a fun and relaxing time during their stay here. "Just Plane Fun," a summer-long program of special events, took off on July 2nd and lasts through August.
Among the exciting array of events the Airport is offering are live entertainment including Philadelphia's famous Mummers strutting through the terminals, children's activities including the Please Touch Museum's "Play Patrol," educational and information sessions by the American Red Cross, demonstrations by artists whose work has been displayed at the Airport, pep rallies by local pro sports teams including appearances by team mascots, and promotional giveaways. The legendary Tuskegee Airmen and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are scheduled to be among the participants in a special National Aviation Day Celebration on August 19th. In addition, Airport retailers will be offering special sales and promotions throughout the summer.
"We strive to ensure that our customers have a pleasant experience at the Airport, and we also want to convey our appreciation to them for choosing Philadelphia International Airport," said Airport CEO Mark Gale. "The economic recession was difficult for the entire travel industry, and particularly hard on aviation, but we believe things are turning around and better days are ahead. We are appreciative that our travelers have chosen Philadelphia International Airport and our airlines as their transportation of choice, and we are all collectively working hard to provide the best customer service experience possible."
A schedule of events for July 2 – 9 is attached. Please visit the Airport's website, www.phl.org, throughout the summer for the weekly schedule of events.
