SANDY, UT -- (Marketwire) -- 10/27/10 -- SecureAlert Inc. (OTCBB: SCRA), a leading international provider of patented, wireless electronic monitoring systems and services to criminal justice and corrections systems, today announced it has achieved its highest quality level in the company's history.
SecureAlert has been committed to significantly improving its quality and reliability for the past year. The latest results show that its commitment has paid off. One quality measure that SecureAlert tracks is out of box failures. Today that rate is 0.073% resulting in a 99.927% Functional Quality Rating. Due to our product quality initiatives, 999 out of 1000 units shipped meet our customers' delivery specifications. Current actual Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) for all devices in the field is greater than 53,000 hours, on average, a six year useful life. "Based on these results, and to better capture the best-in-class quality that SecureAlert is delivering, we have decided to rebrand our product as ReliaTrack, reflecting the quality of services we are delivering," said John L. Hastings III, President and Chief Operating Officer of SecureAlert, Inc.
"Our focus on quality continues to pay off big dividends in customer satisfaction, product reliability, and improvements to our operating costs. We currently put all newly manufactured units through a full complement of burn-in tests designed to ensure optimal quality and integrity of our product," noted Hastings.
The burn-in cycle consists of 3 full power cycles (complete charge and discharge of the Battery under normal operating conditions). During one of these power cycles devices are driven through rural and urban settings to fully test GPS operation. Additional quality tests performed include: a complete visual inspection to IPC-610 level II standards, a full functional test with automated test equipment, and calls made to the monitoring center to test for audio quality at both ends.
"Utilizing Six-Sigma tools we continue to drive quality and functional improvements back into the products," Hastings said in closing.
