More and more countries are entering into the LNG market, resulting in significant changes to capacity and infrastructure. The top five emerging regasification markets are China, Italy, India, Mexico and the UK, and are expected to contribute around 35% of this capacity (7,153 bcf).

It is anticipated that by 2016 the combined capacity share of the top five emerging markets for liquefaction (Egypt, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Russia and the US), will comprise 25.7% of the world market, a 10% increase on 2010 figures.
