SANDY, UT -- (Marketwire) -- 06/16/11 -- SecureAlert Inc. (OTCBB: SCRA), a leading international provider of patented, wireless electronic monitoring systems and services to public safety agencies, was recently named the winner in the Science & Technology: Hardware/Firmware Development category for Utah's 2011 Best of State Awards for the second year in a row.
The Best of State Awards recognize outstanding individuals, organizations and businesses in Utah. By recognizing excellence in the Utah community and sharing examples of success and triumph in so many worthy endeavors, the "Best of State" awards seek to inspire individuals and companies to reach a little higher, try a little harder, and work a little smarter to succeed.
"We are honored to be selected once again as the recipient of a Utah 'Best of State' award in 2011," said John L. Hastings III, President and Chief Operating Officer of SecureAlert. "Receiving this award for the second year in a row is truly a reflection of our commitment to developing and providing innovative technology in the electronic offender monitoring industry."
All 2011 nominations received by Best of State were reviewed by more than 100 judges. Each nomination was judged on its own merits and was not ranked against each other by the judges. Scores were based upon three basic criteria: 50 percent on achievement and excellence in field of business; 30 percent on innovative methods and processes; and 20 percent on the contribution of improving Utah. This process was carefully overseen by an independent certified public accounting firm, which collects and tabulates the scores for accuracy.
A gala to honor SecureAlert and other award recipients was held on June 4, 2011 at the Salt Palace Convention Center.
