R3 Fusion, Inc., a clean technology company based in Rensselaer Technology Park, announced that it has received an order from Li3 Energy, Inc., (OTC.BB:LIEG) to explore the application of R3 Fusion's proprietary evaporation technology on the processing of lithium-containing brines and chemicals.
R3 has developed a patent-approved SPaCeRTM (short path condensate recovery) technology capable of high volume, energy efficient separation of pure water from a wide range of fluids including briny solutions, industrial waste streams, frac water, and many others. The technology does not require chemicals or membranes to achieve water separation and has already been scaled to a commercial level.
Thomas Currin,Li3's COO stated, "We are excited to be working with the R3 team to evaluate and possibly apply their exciting SPaCeRTM technology in the development of Li3's Maricunga Project. Amongst other end points, if proven, this technology could be extremely valuable as it relates to reducing processing times, allowing for the collection of clean distilled water, and potentially reducing the capital expenditures required. Achieving these benefits wouldimprove the overall financial economics as well as help us reduce the time to commercial production."
