Toyota City, Aug 24, 2011 - (JCN Newswire) - Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) announces that the new U.S. model "Camry" was launched in the United States on August 23 (local time) with a series of simultaneously telecast media events held in Los Angeles, California; Georgetown, Kentucky; New York City, New York and Detroit, Michigan. The new model Camry is the latest addition to the vehicle series that has held the title of best selling passenger car in the U.S. for nine consecutive years.
The 2012 Camry sports sophisticated restyling that enhances its presence and further improves the vehicle's renowned spacious interior, excellent handling, cruising stability and quiet ride. The vehicle comes in three powertrain versions: 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder, 3.5-liter V6, and 2.5-liter in-line four-cylinder gasoline-electric hybrid. All have improved fuel efficiency over their corresponding predecessors, with the 2012 "Camry Hybrid" in particular achieving a 30% increase with a U.S. EPA-estimated city fuel-economy rating of 43 mpg*.
As part of the launch event series, a line-off ceremony was held in Georgetown at Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky, Inc.
