Following the contract win for braking systems, Faiveley Transport (Paris:LEY) has now been awarded another order to supply door systems for Deutsche Bahn's new ICx high speed trains, by Siemens and Bombardier.
Faiveley Transport will supply door systems for a first firm order of 130 trains, with two options for 90 and 80 additional trains respectively, bringing the total potential order to 300 trains. This is the biggest door systems' order in Faiveley Transport's history.
Delivery of the first prototype will begin early 2013 with serial production in 2015.
The scope of supply includes electrical sliding-plug access doors, each fitted with a sliding step. This solution proposes the latest innovations in door solutions bringing together 70 years of Faiveley Transport's experience.
"An excellent technical solution with attractive life cycle cost were highlighted as significant factors that led to winning the contract," said Giovanni Boe, Access & Information Executive Director. "The close collaboration between our dedicated team and the customer also played a capital role in winning this strategic order."
This break through order highlights Faiveley Transport's expertise in the design and integration of on-board door systems specifically tailored for the high speed market. This order confirms Faiveley Transport's ambition to develop a stronger presence on the German market, where it already employs over 800 staff across its three industrial sites.
