A new high-end custom-designed sound system from Bang & Olufsen is offered as
optional extra in the new 6 Series Gran Coupe from BMW.
The Bang & Olufsen high-end Surround Sound system for the BMW 6 Series Gran
Coupe is a continuation of the co-operation between Bang & Olufsen and BMW,
which already consists of sound systems for the 6 Series Coupe and the 6 Series
Convertible.
The new high-end sound system features 16 active loudspeakers powered by 1,200 watts of power. It utilizes seven tweeters including the centre speaker designed in Bang & Olufsen's proprietary Acoustic Lens Technology. Each tweeter is paired with a mid-range loudspeaker. The two subwoofers, which are located under the front seats, are mounted directly to the body of the car to eliminate superfluous vibration.
The market introduction of the 6 Series Gran Coupe is expected to take place in June 2012.
The launch does not affect Bang & Olufsen's expectations for the current financial year.
