Dr. Paul Bleiweis Named Energy Automation Systems, Inc. (EASI) Chief Executive Officer; Company Cuts Energy Costs for Businesses and Governments Worldwide

NASHVILLE, Tenn., March 13, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Dr. Paul B. Bleiweis has been named chief executive officer of Energy Automation Systems, Inc. (EASI), a leading international provider of technologies that sharply lower energy costs by 10 to 30 percent or more while improving electric power quality for businesses and governments.

Bleiweis, EASI president since 2002, will continue as president and assumes the chief executive role held by Joseph Merlo, EASI's founder, for over 34 years. Merlo remains as EASI's owner and chairman.

EASI, headquartered in Nashville, Tenn., has conducted thousands of installations of its energy-saving technologies throughout the United States and in more than 70 countries. EASI has more than 40 employees and contractors at its Hendersonville, Tenn. headquarters; its Gallatin, Tenn. assembly facility; and installation locations in a number of locations inside and outside the U.S.

EASI also has dealers who market and install EASI energy-savings technologies in facilities located in countries throughout the world.

Among EASI's customers are Kraft Foods; C. R. Bard; Freeman Webb; HealthTrust Purchasing Group; HCA; General Electric; and British Petroleum.

Trevecca Nazarene University, Hendersonville Utility District, and Holladay Properties are among Nashville organizations using EASI technologies to lower their energy costs.

"EASI is growing even in today's weak economy, and Paul Bleiweis is a major reason for our success," Merlo said. "He shares my passion and enthusiasm to help companies become more efficient and profitable by reducing their energy costs.

"Paul has assumed significant responsibilities for EASI's daily operations and growth," Merlo added. "His outstanding efforts and leadership abilities have made it much easier for me to decide to retire from daily company activities."

Bleiweis received his doctorate in nuclear science and engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. His professional background is in energy conservation; energy production, management and distribution; and energy technology development and applications.

Early in his career Bleiweis was a staff member, then group leader, at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Afterwards he worked with several high-technology, multi-location consulting firms.

In 1999 Bleiweis became an EASI dealer, marketing the company's products to customers. His success led Merlo to select him as EASI's president. As president, Bleiweis manages day-to-day company operations, including product manufacturing; technology development; affiliate network development; marketing; sales and general business administration.

"I am grateful for Joe's confidence in me to lead EASI, which is making a tremendous difference economically and environmentally for companies and governments around the world," Bleiweis said. "We're growing because our technologies are giving customers what they need, improving power quality by reducing kilowatt hours and lowering energy costs without major construction or interfering with a client's business operations."
