GigOptix, Inc. (OTCQX:GGOX), a leading fabless supplier of semiconductor and optical components that enable high-speed information streaming, today announced that it has started engineering sampling of its EXH2009, a Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit (MMIC) wideband power amplifier in a surface mountable QFN package, for use in military Electronic Warfare (EW), radar, test & measurement equipment and broadband telecom equipment applications.
Key features of the EXH2009 include:
- Wideband performance from DC to 26.5 GHz
- Typical drain voltages of +8 VDC with supply current of 600 mA
- Delivers up to 29 dBm typical Psat
- Low power dissipation of 4.8W
- High gain up to 20dB across band with a gain flatness of better than ±1 dB
- Internally matched 50 Ohms RF input and output
- On-chip input and output DC block capacitors
- High performance surface mountable 7x7mm QFN
"We are very excited to release our first surface mounted wideband amplifier," stated Padraig O'Mathuna, Vice President and General Manager of GigOptix's RF/MMIC Product Line. "The EXH2009 leverages GigOptix's industry leading MMIC design and its high speed packaging expertise to enable a device that provides the high performance seen in die based solutions in a convenient SMT form factor and is very well suited for Electronic Warfare as well as Test and Instrumentation applications. The device provides more than 29 dBm of Psat power while consuming 4.8W typically, significantly outperforming competing parts. The EXH2009 significantly simplifies customer's manufacturing by providing internally matched 50Ohm at the RF inputs and outputs in addition to the on-chip DC block capacitors. Furthermore the SMT solution eliminates the need for expensive and labor intensive "chip and wire" assembly techniques while the high speed packaging not only is fully compatible with industry standard SMT manufacturing flows but also provides the high performance required by our customers' demanding applications."
The EXH2009 is offered as a 7x7mm SMT QFN package and augments GigOptix's portfolio of power amplifiers with frequency coverage extending up to 90 GHz.
