Regional art contest asks children ages 6-12 to share their dreams for the future
Winner to receive $2,000 in a Custodial Brokerage Account and night at the 2012 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby
"I want to work with animals." "I want to design a skyscraper." "I want to play basketball." "I want to make friends." In the spirit of the 2012 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby, TD Ameritrade is asking elementary school-aged children to dream big and consider what life might be like if they went to college.
In return – they have a chance to win a custodial brokerage account, funded with up to $2,000, to help them start planning for those dreams.
The 2012 College Dreams contest, sponsored by TD Ameritrade and the Omaha World-Herald, invites boys and girls ages 6-121 to draw a picture illustrating their answer to one question: "What do you want to do when you go to College?" Winners will be recognized as part of the 2012 TD Ameritrade College Home Run Derby on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.
"Every day we give people the tools and help they need to plan for their financial futures. Whether you're six years old or 60, the best thing you can do is to start as early as you can, and it all begins with asking yourself, 'What do I want to do?'" said Katrina Becker, managing director of communications and public affairs at TD Ameritrade. "This contest, combined with our sponsorship of the College Home Run Derby, is a new way for us to engage with young people and motivate them to think about and begin planning for their future."
