More than 900 Students Vie for Top Honors at the California Science Center
What:
A photo/interview opportunity with over 950 middle and high school students from schools across the state, on-hand to present their science projects for category recognition, as well as over $50,000 in cash prizes. In addition to category awards, top honors will go to Student of the Year (senior division only), and Project of the Year (in both junior and senior divisions). Science teachers, nominated by students, will also compete for both middle school and high school Science Teacher of the Year. Additional special and recognition awards will be made to projects by scientific and engineering organizations.
Here is a sample of the many interesting projects submitted to this year's fair:
- Supersized: Can Teenagers Measure Serving Sizes?
- Hand Sanitizers: Germbusters? Alcohol-Based vs. Non-Alcohol Based
- Cell Phones and Their Effect on Reaction Time
- Tsunami Slicer: Which Structure Will Best Reduce a Simulated Tsunami?
- The Five-Second Rule: Safe or Sorry? Is Food Safe to Eat After Five Seconds on the Ground?

Monday, April 30, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or
Tuesday, May 1, 2012 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
- As student projects are being judged -
RSVP's will be required for Monday, April 30th from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM.
**Note: These are the only times when you will be able to find all of the students at their projects**
