Delcath Systems, Inc: DELCATH TO HOST EXPERT SYMPOSIUM AT CIRSE ANNUAL CONGRESS

EU Physicians to Present Experiences with CHEMOSAT as a New Treatment Option for Cancers in the Liver

NEW YORK, Sept. 10, 2012 -- Delcath Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: DCTH) today announced that the Company will be hosting a satellite symposium at the annual meeting of the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE) in Lisbon, Portugal on Monday, Sept. 17.

The program-Hepatic Chemosaturation Therapy: Expanding the Therapeutic Approaches of Interventional Radiology-will feature an expert panel of European physicians experienced in the use of the Generation Two Delcath Hepatic CHEMOSAT® Delivery system in the treatment of cancers in the liver. Moderated by Barry T. Katzen, MD, FACR, FACC, FSIR at Baptist Cardiac and Vascular Institute, Miami, Florida, the program will include presentations by:

  • Franco Orsi, MD, PhD, European Institute of Oncology, Milan, Italy - Concentrated Therapy: Critical Importance of Disease Control in the Liver

  • Thomas J. Vogl, MD, Johann Wolfgang Goethe-Universität, Frankfurt, Germany - Chemosaturation: Targeting Both Visualized and Occult Liver Tumours

  • Pier Francesco Ferrucci, MD, European Institute of Oncology, Milan, Italy - The Pivotal Role of the IR in Patient Management: Oncologists' Perspective

"This session is an opportunity for experienced physicians from our European early launch sites to present the clinical uses they see for CHEMOSAT in the treatment of cancers in the liver," said Eamonn P. Hobbs, President and CEO of Delcath. "The distinguished panel we've assembled includes physicians who've experience first-hand the benefits of the Generation 2 CHEMOSAT system. CHEMOSAT represents an opportunity for interventional radiologists to play a central role in the management of patients with liver dominant disease, and we are confident this program will be the subject of considerable interest at CIRSE."

About Delcath Systems

Delcath Systems, Inc. is a specialty pharmaceutical and medical device company focused on oncology. Delcath's proprietary system for chemosaturation is designed to administer high dose chemotherapy and other therapeutic agents to diseased organs or regions of the body, while controlling the systemic exposure of those agents. The Company's initial focus is on the treatment of primary and metastatic liver cancers. In 2010, Delcath announced that its randomized Phase III clinical trial for patients with metastatic melanoma in the liver had successfully achieved the study's primary endpoint of extended hepatic progression-free survival. The Company also completed a multi-arm Phase II trial to treat other liver cancers. The Company obtained authorization to affix a CE Mark for the Delcath Hepatic CHEMOSAT® delivery system in April 2011 and for the second generation hemofiltration cartridge for CHEMOSAT in April 2012. The right to affix the CE mark allows the Company to market and sell the CHEMOSAT system in Europe. The Company has not yet received FDA approval for commercial sale of its system in the United States. The Company filed a New Drug Application (NDA) for its proprietary chemosaturation system with the second-generation hemofiltration cartridge in August 2012 seeking FDA approval for commercial sale of its chemosaturation system with melphalan.
